Research Partnerships

Become a Research Partner with Baghirov Hospitality Research § Insights

We conduct research in collaboration with the hospitality sector to deliver stronger data, more meaningful insights and better management decisions.

Baghirov Hospitality Research & Insights (BHRI) is an independent research and insights platform that investigates topics relating to management, employee experience, guest experience, operations, technology, human resources and the future of hospitality within the hospitality sector.

In our research, we aim not only to review the existing literature but also to generate data directly from within the sector. We are therefore inviting hotels, hotel groups, tourism businesses and organisations within the hospitality ecosystem to collaborate on research as part of the BHRI Research Partnership Programme.

How does the collaboration work?

1. BHRI defines the research question and the scope of the research.

2. BHRI prepares the research methodology, questionnaire or other data collection tool.

3. The Research Partner organisation shares the relevant research link with the appropriate staff, managers or participant group.

4. Participants take part in the research on a voluntary basis.

5. BHRI analyses the data obtained independently.

6. The findings are transformed into research reports, management insights and industry publications.

Who can become a Research Partner?

BHRI is open to research collaborations with organisations of various sizes and from different sectors:

1. Independent hotels and hotel groups

2. Luxury, resort, all-inclusive, city, business and boutique hotels

3. Hospitality management companies

4. Tourism businesses and industry organisations

5. Hospitality technology companies and service providers

6. Educational institutions and research organisations

How does a Research Partner contribute?

The scope of the collaboration may vary from one study to another. A Research Partner may:

1. Share BHRI surveys with relevant groups of employees or managers.

2. Help ensure the study reaches suitable participants.

3. Provide an industry and field perspective on specific research topics.

4. Facilitate access to suitable professional participants.

5. Can assist with internal communications regarding the research.

What do partner organisations gain?

The aim of the BHRI Research Partnership Programme is not merely to collect data. We aim for partner organisations to contribute directly to the generation of new knowledge for the sector and to derive meaningful benefit from the research findings.

  1. Contributing to the generation of new knowledge and data in the hospitality sector

  2. Access to the key findings of relevant research and management insights

  3. The opportunity to gain comparative insights using anonymised sector data, provided the research design and data quality are appropriate

  4. Being listed as a ‘BHRI Research Partner’ in the relevant study, subject to the organisation’s approval

Research Sponsorship

BHRI may also collaborate with organisations that provide financial or in-kind support for specific research projects under the Research Sponsor model. This support may contribute towards research technologies, data collection processes, analysis tools, publication costs or the costs of research production.

Research sponsorship does not imply that an organisation has the right to determine or alter research findings, prevent their publication, or interfere with the analytical evaluation. BHRI safeguards its analytical and editorial independence. Organisations providing support for sponsored research are disclosed transparently.

Research independence and participant trust

Research integrity is a fundamental principle for the BHRI. It is not the intention to report individual participants’ responses directly to employers. In appropriate studies, results are evaluated in an aggregated and anonymised form. The purpose of the research, the use of data and the basic conditions of participation are clearly stated to participants.
